The performance of the game with VKD3D-proton seems to be limited to 60-70% of native DX12 performance. This situation didn't change much since the launch of the game with different versions of Proton, Mesa and the game itself.

According to external tests RX 7900 XTX should be able to draw more than 60 FPS on DX12 most of the time on ultra settings in this game at 3840x2160 resolution. I measured FPS on a single scene (Go Big Horns, near university entrance) with different quality settings:

  • Ultra: 38 FPS
  • High: 46 FPS
  • Medium: 55 FPS
  • Low: 68 FPS

GPU load was around 100% and CPU load was around 20-25% during testing.

Are you using SAM? try running with RADV_PERFTEST=nosam

I wasn't using SAM. And nothing really changed after enabling Resizable BAR in BIOS.

I have the same GPU so will check when I have time.

i noticed something interesting today, using the DLL override for amd_ags_x64=b (necessary-ish to avoid outdated drivers warning dialogs, etc) yields worse performance (about -5 fps) and adds a really noticeable stutter on camera movement (if FPS is lower than the refresh rate) but may be specific to my case since i'm very vram limited.
