After opening Infinity Nikki and entering Miraland, the game shows this error message either while on the loading screen or during fade-in after that.
Tested with graphics settings set to either Smooth or Ultra.

Why is this on our bugtracker, that looks like D3D11 to me? Also, why are you using DXVK/vkd3d-proton on Windows? That's not an intended use case.

The game uses D3D12, actually.

I've heard of people using it to gain a slight FPS boost on Windows. That's the main reason.
Another reason is to see if it would fix the grainy 3D output that's common with AMD users like me. I don't have any other game which uses Direct3D 11/12 to confirm this.

The game supports both D3D11 and 12, and it clearly crashes while running on D3D11 according to the error you posted.

Ok, so I put in the d3d11.dll file from DXVK (and keeping d3d12core.dll untouched), and the game started fine. The grainyness is still there, which I guess means it's unrelated to DXVK.

Closing, since the solution seems to be using DXVK instead of vkd3d-proton.
