Have you tried running the game with MangoHud so you can monitor your VRAM usage? I tested on RTX 3070 with 575.144 without any immediate problems, but from the time I spent in the game it looks like it'll be difficult to stay below 6GB with RT on low, even with other settings set to low.
I used driver 570, still the same. I used Manghud, it is always upto 5.6GB both RT on high or off. I don't know how you get more 6GB
In my case the game was able to use more than 6 GB because the GPU had 8 GB, but keep in mind your desktop also needs some of that VRAM. You can use a tool like nvidia-smi to see how much memory is used by other processes than the game. When I checked yesterday, my desktop was using 0.4 GB on my iGPU.
According to the Steam store page the minimum requirement for this game is 8 GB VRAM, but let's say I switch to using only my GTX 1660 Ti, which also has only 6 GB, then 0.4 + 5.6 means there's no free VRAM left. The game wants to use more than 5.6 GB, but now it can't, so then the game data will spill over into system memory instead. This will cause stuttering because it's much slower for the GPU to access other memory than the VRAM.
No, you have got it wrong. The game minimum system RAM is 8GB and GPU is GTX960 which is 2GB
Recommended is GPU is 1060 6GB
I was able to play with 4GB GPU. And the 6GB can play at 4K DLSS with over 50fps !
Nvidia shows this game in running 3050 RTX laptop RTX on, max settings 60fps. Laptop 3050 is even slower than the desktop. The problem is clearly not the game !
Ah, I misread, sorry about that. Also, I forget the GTX 1660 Ti isn't a good comparison to newer GPUs since it's too old to support RT, so I couldn't reproduce any big problems with that. I had slightly more stuttering on Linux than on Windows, but I was also using more VRAM for desktop applications there, and it was fine when I used my iGPU.
If you are not using RTX. the game runs better using DX11 using 16 or 10 series. But Those cards can only use native resolution, the VRAM is certainly higher than DLSS at the same resolution.
In the case of RTX DLSS + RT on, the game shouldn't be running out of VRAM. The game's 1080p DLSS preset is quality that is 720p rendered resolution. When 720p RT ON low which only does ray trace reflection, and nothing else, no shadow, no global illumination. If still run out of VRAM, what can we say? It is getting useless playing games on Linux.
Nothing extracted yet.
Either Ray tracing on low or high, most of the areas has high frame time to a point, frame freeze. Lower resolution and graphic settings does not improve the situation. Areas like the lasers, inside the tunnels.
Similar situation but not frame freeze, in Diablo 4 when ray tracing is low, stuttering.
