Please describe your issue as accurately as possible. Include screenshots or videos if relevant

Software information

Tested games: Forza Horizon 5, Assetto Corsa Evo, Persona 3 Reload

System information

  • GPU: RTX 4060 Laptop
  • Driver: 570.124.4
  • Wine version: Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge
  • VKD3D-Proton version: See Wine version

Log files

steam-3058630.log - This is a log I got for Assetto Corsa Evo

I didn't get logs for the other two games, but this is their behavior:

  • Forza Horizon 5 - Will give me a driver warning saying my video card is unsupported before launching to a black screen
  • Persona 3 Reload - Launches and runs, but runs at like 14 FPS

Ever since I updated to the latest Nvidia driver for PopOS, many of my DirectX 12 games have stopped working. I reported this to System76 too in case it's a packaging issue, but I really want to know what's going on based off this one log.

Do any other Vulkan apps work for you? Everything about the log screams "broken driver setup", specifically vkCreateDevice failing with VK_ERROR_INITIALIZATION_FAILED for no apparent reason.

Well Ultrakill, a DirectX 11 game via DXVK works completely fine, even performance-wise

Try VKD3D_CONFIG=nodxr? Can be driver bug loading the special kernel modules again ...

It turns out using the proprietary Nvidia 570 driver with kernel 6.9.3 worked
