I cannot reproduce this issue on a 4070 with 570.153.02 drivers on Experimental.
The RDoc capture did load though, fortunately.
Identified a potential driver bug.
EDIT: Seems to have been a red herring.
Looking for a reproducer on a non-Blackwell card, since it seems like those cards changed the memory layout for D32S8 images, which is why I thought I found a bug in the capture.
I have a 3000 series gpu in my laptop, I'll try and check there later.
I will test on a 4090 tomorrow.I can test on both the 570 and 575 drivers on ubuntu 25.04.
Okay so starting the game with the 4090 I got this on Ubuntu 24.04.2 when using the 565.77 Proprietary version (Proton Experimental as of this day)
Then I remembered the SteamDeck=1 parameter (rolling eyes... sigh). I added that in and got the game working perfectly. I played I think 20 minutes in. I got to study rust and program so had not much time.
I then upgraded to the 570.169 (Proprietary), rebooted, tested again and got same results.
I then upgraded to the 575.64.03 (Proprietary), rebooted, tested again and got same results.
Lastly I did the 575.64.03 (Open Sourcish...) and got same results.
Then I did the same test on a 4070 I have.Tested on 570.169 and 575.64.03 and got same good results.
I took the time to also tested the scene where Kratos meets in his dreams his wife Faye. On the 575.64.03 (Proprietary), when that scene starts I was getting 141 FPS. When using 575.64.03 (Open Sourcish...) I got exactly the same. 1 minute of test. This was done to confirm to myself that the open version has the same performance than the proprietary one (I needed convincing, let me put it like that).
I think that is a lot of testing to make sure there were no artifacts.

In God of War Ragnarök, choosing to use the "Native" AA preset for DLSS (DLAA), FSR, and XeSS all introduce a large amount of artifacting onto the game's window. Choosing any sub-preset like "Quality" or "Balanced" does not seem to have the issue.
This also does not seem to happen on my 7900XTX on RADV with the same settings.
