High-end DX12 games such as Starfield, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, God of War Ragnarok, and potentially others exhibit an error when compiling shaders (pipeline creation), specifically on the Turnip drivers (in my case, 25.3.0-R10 running on an Adreno 750, but earlier ones like 25.2.0, as well as happening on the Adreno 740). They give this error (excerpt):
"Assertion failed!
../dlls/winevulkan/loader_thunks.c
Line: 2775 (can be different due to wine/proton version)
Expression: "!status && "vkCreateComputePipelines""
All of these games needed the VKD3D_SHADER_MODEL=6_6 command to boot at all. I know this is likely a driver issue, but I'm not actually entirely sure, as in the case of Starfield, only the latest (or at least nightly builds of VKD3D) could actually get to the title screen, although both normal 2.14.1 and nightly gave the same error. I also know that the newest nightly VKD3D increased some compatibility for Turnip, as South of Midnight now works (although it's low fps, and only on Turnip)! I'm just not fully sure about Turnip being the issue.
(the GOWR screenshot is from the Adreno 740, but the issue is still the same)
(the FF7RB screenshot is from normal 2.14.1, but the issue is still the same. I will retest with the nightly build if needed)
Ah, so it's most likely a driver issue. Or maybe you don't have a device? But I appreciate the quick response, and I'll try more DX12 games and try to see exactly why this happens ^^
