This is the case on Windows too afaik, the game is very aliased and FSR3 does not do a good job in this game. Is there evidence that FSR3 behaves differently on RADV vs Windows here?
Yeah I've tested in both windows and Linux.
If you drop the resolution down from 4K in Linux the issue doesn't occur at all. It's also not a issue in windows.
The game does have pixelation issues but when on Linux at 4K it doesn't render correctly at all all the trees and grass become completely garbled mess when you move the camera. If you drop the resolution down it completely goes away and renders it normally.
The game must be doing something strange at 4K resolutions. I've asked some other people and they couldn't replicate at lower resolutions also.
I'll take a couple of screenshots of windows and linux and upload them soon.
Saw a couple of other people have posted the same issue on Reddit.
Screenshots and/or video would be appreciated, yes.
And to be clear, you're not using FSR4, right?
I've posted about this on reddit with a video: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/s/Nc4GDdqkCF
I'm using fsr 4 here, but the problem is still there even if I use native rendering. Only the reduced resolution fixes it for me.
It kind of feels as if the foliage is rendered at a much lower resolution and it's textures are moving when the camera moves.
By native, do you mean FSR4 with native resolution, or the built-in TAA? Does it reproduce with FSR3 as well?
I'm guessing they mean Native resolution. For me it was happening at 3840 x 2160 not matter what I did. So guessing that.
Oh and to just go a bit further. Seems it doesn't matter what scaling it is. Even happens on xess. So it might not be upscaler linked at all and more something that's broken at 3840 x 2160
Yeah. Completely native rendering or with upscaling, doesn't matter.
Have the same issue without using any upscaling options. Let me know if I can provide any logs.
GPU: 9070xt
Arch Linux
Same over here. Reducing resolution to e.g 3200x1800 it now renders ok.
Hi all, can reproduce this here:
GPU 7900XTX (RDNA3)
SteamOS 3.8 (3.9 Main as well) + Bazzite
Proton Experimental
Issue occurs if the resolution is 3840x2160 no matter what upscaling setting is used, or if it isn't used at all. However, upscaling makes the issue more apparent. I posted about it in the Proton issues page: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/9595#issuecomment-4157382056 which includes video of the issue compared to PS5 as a "reference".
Simply reducing the resolution one step down to 1800P, fixes the issue entirely, evenwhen using upscaling.
I tested again still a issue with newest updates at 4K. Regardless of upscaling
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX (RDNA3)
Mesa: 26.1.5-arch3.1
Proton: Proton experimental-bleeding-edge Build ID: 24488490 (Jul 31/2026)
I can confirm that the geometry shimmering issue is still present when using 3840x2160 resolution. I made a few posts with videos and additional information on the same thread as linked above. It's there regardless of upscaling ON/OFF, FSR or XeSS.

A: Yes, on Windows there is no such issue at all.
For reference:
4K native (3840x2160) - shimmering:

This issue popped up on my system as well and I've decided to run some tests myself; from what I can see, it is directly tied to the screen height of 2160 pixels. Something lower than that, such as 2152 or 2148 pixels, and the issue completely disappears. The foliage issues are the most visible in motion so what I did in each test case was slightly move my character whilst taking a screenshot. I should also mention that the first resolution I used is so weird to show that it's (seemingly) not tied to width.
Tests were done on the same save file, with FSR4.1.1 quality in each case.
Screengrabs:
4864x2160, shimmer present
5120x2152, shimmer absent

Crimson Desert foliage and trees flicker aand turn into a pixelated mess when using upscaling and moving the camera.
I have had tested this on two AMD cards a 6800 XT and a 9070 XT both had issues with any form of FSR upscaling.
