I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

With Proton 11-based builds (tested 11.0-4, Experimental and GE derivatives), DCS World fails to enumerate WinWing devices: Rudder and PTO2. With Proton 10.0-2 (and GE-Proton 10-34), all my devices are correctly detected.

Devices present on the system (all visible via lsusb, evtest, jstest, and joy.cpl):

  • WinWing Orion Throttle Base II (0x4098:0xbd64) — detected by DCS
  • WinWing Orion Joystick Base Metal 2 + JGRIP-F16 (0x4098:0xbea8) — detected by DCS
  • WinWing WINCTRL Orion Combat Rudder Pedals Metal (0x4098:0xbef0) — NOT detected by DCS
  • WinWing WINCTRL CarrierAce PTO 2 (0x4098:0xbf05) — NOT detected by DCS

DCS log shows only 5 input devices created (keyboard + 3 gamepad-mapped devices + throttle). The rudder and PTO2 are never enumerated.

Store links to devices (they were changing naming conventions lately, so just to be sure):

Reproduction

  1. Connect one or more Winwing devidces
  2. Ensure they're detected and working properly, udev rules, jstest, joy.cpl, might use proton 10 version too.
  3. Launch DCS World with Proton 11.0-4 or Experimental
  4. Open Options → Controls — devices don't enumerate

Already ruled out

  • udev permissions (devices have 0666, user is in input group)
  • Steam Input (disabled globally and per-game)
  • SDL gamecontroller mapping blacklist (tried SDL_GAMECONTROLLER_IGNORE_DEVICES)
  • Input Remapper interference (tested with remapper disabled)
  • DCS config corruption (deleted Input folder, issue persists on Proton 11, works on Proton 10)
  • joy.cpl via Proton correctly sees all devices as DirectInput
