Symptoms

Helldivers 2 (553850) crashes since the Oct 20 2026 update (build 19374)

Crash: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading 0x58 at helldivers2.exe+0x9f60ed, thread "D3D12TaskDispatcherThread". Null pointer: both the object and its fallback global (helldivers2.exe+0x1a2c998) are null. Identical in 6/6 dumps.

Tried, still crashes: GE-Proton10-34, Proton Experimental 11.0-100, FSR4 on/off, upscaling none, AMD Anti-Lag off, cleared Steam shader cache, deleted the game's pipeline_library.cache.

The game worked perfectly on max settings before the update.

Reproduction

The crashes happen randomly, they could happen on game launch, a minute after the game launch inside the lobby or a half an hour inside the mission. Lowering particle effect quality kind of helped to increase the time between crashes when inside a mission, but they still happen often, sometimes right away after joining.

Hello @LEV1XTHXN, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/7486#issuecomment-6328500500.
