This has been my experience as well, however I only played for 5 minutes to confirm there weren't any major/immediate problems.

Blades of Time (208670) graphics layers missing

Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/2471.

Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Blades of Time
  • Steam AppID of the game: 208670

System Information

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The introduction video plays fine, but once the menu appears, and also during gameplay, Ayumi the Heroine's face becomes partly see-through. Her teeth and jaw show, but her lips are not drawn. You can see her hair through her head.

Reproduction

This has happened since I bought the game. First on Proton 3.16-4 and now on 4.2-1. There have been driver updates and Steam client updates, but this issue has not gone away.

Hello @louisvd, there's a decent chance this is a video driver issue fixed in a newer series of the nvidia driver, unfortunately mainstream support for Fermi has ended and 390.xx is the last proprietary driver series that will support your video card.

Hi @kisak-valve
I hate even to ask this, but is it worth trying the Nouveau drivers? I've steered clear of them until now, but now I am wondering if they are worth trying out?

The game fails to launch for me with the following error:

Update on my bug above: kisak suggested me to launch with taskset -c 0-15 %command%, which resolved the issue. Seems like a problem with more than 16 CPUs.
