Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: FRACT OSC
  • Steam AppID of the game: 243220

System Information

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

I'm hosting the Proton log on my own server because it has an absolutely unholy number of NtStatusToWSAError log messages. I kid you not, this uncompresses to 2.3GB, so get your disk ready:

Symptoms

FRACT OSC launches and runs, but with steamcompmgr nothing is rendered to the screen. The problem appears to be that the D3D device gets lost and does not recover, at least not for Unity 3.x games (which FRACT OSC falls under). The game log has a whole bunch of these:

HandleD3DDeviceLost
  HandleD3DDeviceLost: still lost
Skipped rendering frame because GfxDevice is in invalid state (device lost)

Worth noting that this is on Fedora 28 with steamcompmgr. On Fedora 28 with GNOME, everything is okay.

Reproduction

  1. Boot SteamOS session (or any Linux session with steamcompmgr)
  2. Run FRACT OSC
  3. Window should open, game should run with audio in the background...
  4. ... but screen is black!

Nothing extracted yet.
