I tried the same on my Linux Machine but that doesn't worked
I can confirm the issues shown by @springwurm . I can even say that I can see the brake lights of the cars through other cars. Perhaps @Joshua-Ashton or @doitsujin can take a look to this problem. Otherwise, the game works very well, and I can use my steering wheel with a good FFB (G29) with a few reassignments in the controls menu.
Need for Speed Shift stopped working (possible regression - used to be Platinum at ProtonDB)

Sometimes: Game starts; show initial logo; blackscreen; language selection (freezes there);
Just install the game and try to run (used to work just fine).
