steam-3900.log

Symptoms

Everytime the first world wonder has been researched the game's main view becomes all black and the world wonder's video is shown in a little window in the middle of the screen. Once the video is over, the game's main screen does not reappear. It stays all black.
I then saved the game. Then I restarted and tried loading the save game, but the game ist stuck in the loading screen eternally.

Reproduction

100% reproducible. I start a new game, research a world wonder, and all goes black again.
Or I try loading a game saved after the world wonder - everything is black.

Hello!

There are Proton updates frequently, but in general I sww no changes regarding the compatibility.
Are bugs like this never going to be fixed?
Thank You!

Have a similiar error,
is apparently a wine error.
I can research worldwonders, but when i try to build stonehenge the landscape disappears.
Is an error not limited to proton but also to wine.
Here is an solution with winetricks, but how do i install winetricks package to proton?

You should have the latest winetricks installed:

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks
chmod +x winetricks
sudo mv -v winetricks /usr/local/bin

In general you need to define the path, where the Wine installation of your interest resides (the PREFIX).
Then you execute winetricks (or any other Wine related tool) with that Prefix given, for example:

WINEPREFIX=/home/username/wine/myfavoriteprefix winetricks whateverpacketyouneed

Confirm this issue. Works perfect until Calendar tech researched.

I checked suggested solution. Do not work with Steam Proton 4.11. Bug is still here.

An A/B test utilizing the MSXML3 package from protontricks shows it's the wine builtin xml3.dll that is the issue.

It works properly with the Microsoft MSXML3 runtime installed.

I think I might consider getting a nice accurate log from a fresh user directory on my machine later.

@someg33zer I had that issue when using Proton 3.16. However, even with the latest versions of Proton, the game just crashes after loading into a match for me, so it's not much better.
