Using SteamVR beta
Game runs fine except the robot repair level, instant crash.
Bringing up the system menu ussually results in a system hangup when trying to go back to the game, need to restart computer in that case.

Can confirm the same issue as @Tenchrio (tested with Valve Index Headset):
Bringing up the system menu ussually results in a system hangup when trying to go back to the game
Unable to reproduce this issue, pressing the System button appears to reduce the application's frequent high frame times:
steam-450390.log
vrcompositor.txt
I can confirm the instant crash for robot repair, although only the game crashes.
Additionally i can only visit one pocket universe per session - when i go back to the lab the game either crashes or the view is totally screwed up and unusable.

Switched to Manjaro to test F2FS and since I no longer have this issue. Robot Repair still crashes.

Had this issue as well (but only occasionally), but just as the system button issue it was fixed after I switched to Manjaro.
Previous OS was Ubuntu 19.04, no clue what caused it, perhaps running Steam through console could shed some light (or perhaps in one of the logs under ~/.steam/steam/logs ).
I'm on manjaro, too. I can't find anything in /steam/logs that catches my eye - which log would be the most likley to be useful?
To make matters worse, i now get a system freeze when i try to enter the lab - the into works, the first "room" where you can select "start", "play intro" and switch subtitles on/off works, but when i hit start, i go back to the "empty vr-space" and the system freezes half a second later.
I haven't changed my system since yesterday (besides installing calligra i think), and i can't see that there has been an update to the lab or steamvr - not sure what could be causing this change in behaviour?
Edit: ok strange, three times in a row i got the same freeze, now i tried it again with protonlog=1 and it worked...ohne other thing i changed was unpluggin my xbox360-controller, but it still works after plugging it in again...will try without protonlog=1, later...
The behaviour on my system is that I see the valve logo on the headset, but after that the headset is just blank. The desktop shows a window with a level select dropdown menu, but nothing on that menu works.

I'm unable to load the Secret Shop. Otherwise, most things are fine.

It all works except Secret Shop and Robot Repair, which run under Source 2 instead of unity. It's a tad frustrating, but at this point I don't think we'll see fixes come down for it
I managed to get Robot Repair to (somewhat) work.
Considering this:
I think this is going to be the only way for this to work for the time being until SteamVR is able to run proton from itself.
[BUG] The Lab: Robot Repair Level Crashes in SteamVR on EndeavourOS (Arch Linux) – No Error Message, Other Levels Work
Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/813.
@kai-BongoKai posted on 2025-09-25T12:33:32:
Describe the bug
When starting "The Lab" via SteamVR on EndeavourOS (Arch Linux base), entering the "Robot Repair" level always causes the game to crash during the loading screen. The application closes immediately with no error message or notification. Other levels, such as "Slingshot," work normally. On some tested Proton versions, visible graphical artifacts also occur during loading.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Start SteamVR on EndeavourOS (Arch Linux).
Launch "The Lab" from the Steam library.
Select and enter the "Robot Repair" level.
Observe crash during loading screen, with no message.
Expected behavior
Robot Repair level should load the environment and gameplay should start without crashing or graphical artifacts.
"EndeavourOS Linux" (64 bit)
Kernel Name: Linux
Kernel Version: 6.16.8-arch3-1
X Server Vendor: The X.Org Foundation
X Server Release: 12401008
X Window Manager: KWin
Steam Runtime Version: steam-runtime_1.0.20250616.139563
Additional context
All hardware (Valve Index, controllers, base stations) and software are up to date.
Multiple Proton versions tested, all showing same crash behavior or graphical glitches in this level only.
Issue is reproducible every time, while other levels work perfectly.

System Information

Symptoms
Under current Proton tracking doesn't work, performance is broken, and the game hangs when trying to do just about anything.
Reproduction
Launch game with SteamVR running.
This game requires the IVRCompositor_017 interface, which currently isn't exposed by the Proton vrclient. With these changes (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/pull/2075), the game runs and tracks correctly. However, the only areas which load for me are the main Lab hub, Slingshot, and Longbow; everything else hangs the game on loading.
