Symptoms

The game crashes when trying to start one of the tutorials (e.g. land combat). The main campaign modes appear to work ok.

Reproduction

Start game
Click "Single Player"
Click "Tutorials"
Click "War on Land"
Game crashes after half a second loading.

This is a wine issue that affects non-native versions of Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun, always crashes caused by entering 'battle mode'. Over my head, but something about an improper setpixelformat(?). Wine requires a patch that has never been integrated, but IIRC wine-staging includes the patch and plays these games nicely.

After quitting the game the process never exits and Napoleon.exe uses a whole core indefinitely. If I force exit upon restarting the game my settings aren't saved.

I'm getting crashes that lock up the entire system (have to force shutdown with the physical power button) during some battles. It usually occurs during larger battles. This is with proton 6-3-8, but I've encountered the same issue with versions 9.0.3, 8.0.5, and 7.0.6.
