System: Arch Linux, kernel version 4.18.3, NVIDIA driver 396.51.

By default, RWBY: Grimm Eclipse runs, but characters are invisible. Adding "-force-d3d9" to the Launch Options through Steam fixes the issue and makes it work perfectly. I found the workaround on WineHQ.

I apologize, I'm not sure how issue reporting/resolving is supposed to work here. Is there a way to have that setting automatically applied so it works out-of-the-box for others? I assume that's the goal, but I don't know if the "issue" here would be the missing flag or the fact that the newer DirectX versions don't work.

The game is based on Unity Engine and therefore most likely requires Stream Output support for everything to render properly, but DXVK currently does not support this, so D3D11 won't work out of the box.

Setting PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 might resolve the issue as well.

With the following setup the game is running without any special parameters, and I am able to view the characters:

Distro: Xubuntu 18.10
GPU: NVIDIA Corporation GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2
Driver/LLVM version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 415.25
Kernel version: 4.18.0-13-generic
Proton version: 3.16-6 Beta

Hello @jacobgkau, @liberodark, please retest with nvidia 415.22 or newer and Proton 3.16.

Tested with NVIDIA 415.25 and Proton 3.16-4, the characters are now visible and I don't have to use the extra startup parameter any more. Thank you! @kisak-valve

@liberodark My Xbox controller is also wonky right now, it seems like it only wants to arrow up constantly or arrow down constantly, and the "A" button doesn't work on the menu. I remember the controller working fine when I played this title on Windows a while back, but I have no idea how Proton handles controllers.

Same with my PS4 style Logitech F310 constantly wanting to down arrow. I tried what I did with Raiden IV: Overkill. I plugged in the controller after the game loaded to the menu or while it was loading, but it did not fix the issue like it did with the other game.

For me the game is unplayable with controller. For some reason RT is always pressed when running the game

Controller support seems good now. :ok_hand:
