Whitelist Request

  • Name of the game to be whitelisted: Bombshell
  • Steam AppID of the game: 353190

System Information

I confirm:

  • [x] that pressing the Play button in the Steam client is sufficient.
  • [ ] that runtime config options are necessary to run the game.
  • [ ] that no workarounds other than PROTON_* env variables are necessary.

Issues

  • [x] I haven't experienced any issues.
  • [x] There are no issues left open for this game.
  • [ ] Although I consider the gaming experience equal to Windows there are remaining issues:

With previous Proton versions the game doesn't even start, but with Proton 4.2-3 it works like a charm. Tested the DX9 and DX11 renderer with medium detail at 1080p and everything was perfect. Performance with DX11 rendered is better.

I have played less than 1 hour without a single problem.

AAwesamLinux 2019-04-20 github

Distro: Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa (64 bit)
GPU: Vega 56
Driver/LLVM version: Mesa 19.1.0-devel/9.0.0
Kernel version: 5.0.7-050007-generic
Proton version: 4.2-3

Minor issue: Game works perfectly for me, except one weird thing is that it launches always minimized. First there is a "Bombshell" splash screen window, after that I see in the taskbar that the game has started but minimized. So have to manually bring it up.

I have seen this exact same behavior in maybe 5 games before (for example KOF XIV Appid: 571260, it does that when launching the game normally but using the PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 in that particular game it does not occur).

I'm not sure if this game behaves differently with other desktop environments (I'm using CInnamon), but I have seen this exact same behaviour also with some game in Pantheon too (not tried this particular one though).

Included log of me launching the game when the game started minimized.

@AwesamLinux I have seen this behavior with some Unreal 3 engine powered games too
