Pathologic Classic HD keeps crashing

Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/4109.
@Veikrom posted on 2020-07-31T03:23:50:

The game starts with a black screen then closes. After each attempted launch it needs to files to verify. Here is my logs

while playing on a steam deck:

Works on Proton 9.0-4 but on the day 7 play at the theater it showss TV bars instead of the expected video playing

tried with Proton 10 beta and it has the same issue.

I have been playing this game for over 10 hours and didn't experience any game crashing like it was reported 4 years ago above.

Launching the game works ok for proton 10.0-3 and GE 10-22. The cutscene wmv files have a codec which is not supported by default, it requires installing the wmp11 component. winetricks prefix=<pfx path> wmp11

at least the first videos appear to play fine. If either you @kaincenteno or @VioletDarkKitty have a save file anywhere close to day 7, I'd be thankful
