Sorry for choosing contradicting options in this report, let me explain...
My setup has two audio devices, GPU HDMI and a sound card. HDMI audio does not have mixer controls like volume etc and this game initially opened a window and immediately crashed. According to logs, game tried to do something relating to volume controls which were not there. I changed my default sound device to my sound card (which has normal mixer controls) instead of HDMI audio in .asoundrc and game started normally. I suppose I could have also setup software volume control for the HDMI audio with the same end result.

I have no idea if this was an issue with my particular setup or if it behaves like this for all devices lacking volume controls. That said, I consider this as non-issue because it was easily fixed via alsa configuration and is very likely to be related to my setup. Game works absolutely fine with proper alsa configuration for me and with proper audio device I would not have had to do any configuration at all. Xbox 360 controller works, as does switching between windowed and fullscreen and gameplay is smooth at solid 60fps.

Nothing extracted yet.
