Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Trials Rising
  • Steam AppID of the game: 641080

System Information

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options and drag
and drop the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log into this issue report

if i do this it only launches uplay but not the game, i attached the log of that.
if i remove the logging line from the launch options the game starts.

Symptoms

one thing is the mentioned above, only uplay launches if i add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the startup options, the game doesn't

without the proton_log line the game starts, i can see the intro and it tells me to press any key. if i press a key it tries to connect to ubisoft services and crashes.

Reproduction

run the game

Steamdeck user here. Thanks so much for proton and freeing us of the shackles of microsoft :P

Still not able to run the game 4 years later. I've tried bascially every proton version and at least the past 5 steam deck OS updates.

Not sure if it's the exact same issue as the one above but the outcome is the same. My anecdotal evidence is that the game open, the ubisoft launcher opens and completes and then the game hangs with a black screen.

When you try the demo version of the game the game runs perfectly, which would lead me to believe that the problem is EasyAntiCheat as there's no online capabilities in the demo version. However, maybe that's not the case as the release notes for proton 7 suggest maybe not? Or maybe this is something outside the possibility of proton and it lies with either RedLynx or Ubisoft. I've tried tweeting them but never get a response.

Either way here's some details and logs.

System Information

  • Steamdeck
  • OS version: 3.4.7
  • OS build number: 20230425.1
  • Kernel version: 5.13.0-valve36-1-neptune

I confirm:

  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
