Symptoms

Game run out of the box, and seems to be working fine (render, sound, and, etc) of 2 - 3 hours of testing with no crash, but suffers from the same performance issue with SMT like The Forest (unity engine), disabling SMT can improve performance a bit but still nowhere near windows performance (~20 fps compared to windows).

Log also have fixme entry.

Reproduction

Launch the game

Bbraiam 2019-11-26 · hidden on GitHub github

Using version 4.2-9 of Proton, with version released at 2019-01-15 fails to launch with the following message:

Failed to initialize graphics.
Make sure you have DirectX 11 installed, have up to date
drivers for your graphics card and have not disabled
3D acceleration in display settings.
InitializeEngineGraphics failed

With 4.11-8 it "crashes" with the following
error.log and
crash.dmp

Using Steam Linux Runtime just deletes all related files of the game.

Thanks, your system information indicates you have 32 bit vulkan, but there's a problem with the 64 bit vulkan driver install. Please verify you have mesa-vulkan-drivers installed with something like apt policy mesa-vulkan-drivers and install it with something like sudo apt install mesa-vulkan-drivers.

@kisak-valve I was reading it along with you, and indeed I didn't have them installed. I installed it and now both version work. The Steam Linux Runtime continues nuking the game from the hard drive however.

The initial deployment of the Steam Linux Runtime tool is not compatible with Proton and that issue is being tracked at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-runtime/issues/200.

I cannot get the steam cloud save feature to work at all with My Time At Portia. It works on every other game I've ever ran through proton so I'm not sure what the issue is with this particular game..
Both machines I'm trying to sync between are using Manjaro with the 5.7-latest kernel, 440-latest nvidia proprietary drivers and I've tried both Proton 5.09 (steam's official latest proton) as well as glorious eggroll 5.9 and 5.11.
