Symptoms

Game opens, gets to a black screen with the game's cursor displaying, all as normal, then immediately crashes. Game used to work for me until just recently, not sure what's changed.

I have the exact same issue, I waited for the last update since I read it would be fixed by the time but it's still there. I remember Dark Souls 3 working fine about a year ago but it hasn't been the case after I got back on my PC and fully updated it 4 months ago. No idea what could be behind the problem. I tinkered with the graphics settings file and made sure everything is updated but the game's window appears blank minus the game's mouse cursor that shows up. It then always crashes about 4-5 seconds after the window appeared. I've been looking around for solutions for months, tried previous Proton releases and asked for help on the SteamPlay subreddit with no success. Nothing unusual to report about any other game so far.
