Symptoms

I have an issue with alt-tab. After alt-tabbing I can't return to the game. It shows me only black screen with small icon in the top left corner:

I have this issue with both Proton 3.16-4 and 4.2-4. Virtual desktop doesn't work for me (mouse stucks on left side of the screen).

I have two fullHD monitors.

I also have this issue with Cuphead (#796).

Same with Elder Scrolls Online

ehm... @magist3r whats with fullscreen borderless?

Mmagist3r 2019-05-24 github

@Alexander88207 STALKER doesn't support fullscreen borderless, only fullscreen and windowed.

Just a thought, could you try pressing win+enter or alt+enter and see if that resolves the issue? I get similar issues with a fair few games on Proton and toggling fullscreen via win+enter typically resolves it for me. This includes issues with the game not correctly grabbing the mouse on a multi-monitor setup.

Same problem with Dawn of Man.
Not resolved with win+enter in this case.

win+enter (or alt+enter) doesn't work for me.

Oh well, was worth a shot I suppose :( Another thing that resolves it for me when win+enter doesn't is cycling through my virtual desktops (I run bspwm), which I suppose is effectively minimizing it and opening it back up again, a lot of games are finicky like that with tabbing out.

This happens briefly when tabbing back into The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, however it is swiftly replaced with the actual game.

So I installed this to see for myself, and it is the same issue I get with a lot of other games via Proton. The solution for me is to simply toggle through my virtual desktops in BSPWM and the game starts rendering fine again. I guess this is the equivalent of maybe minimizing the game and opening it up again?
