Same here. My computer also freezes when I get the black screen and I have to restart.
Same here. Tried installing media foundation libs as suggested here https://www.protondb.com/app/1051200 but no luck.

I tried the workaround as well with no success.
Same result (black screen) with Proton 4.11
Any angles to fix this?
This issue exists in Windows too.
You're saying that the game is unplayable on any platform right now?
I've tried to install it on Windows yesterday and got same issue.
There is a topic with the same problem on Steam Community forum.
It does work for me now after installing Proton GE from here https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom#installation
Hopefully the media foundation work is going to be backported to vanilla Proton at some point.
I do have some audio glitches though that makes it kind of not fun to play the game.
which version of proton ge did you use? I tried it before and it didn't work.
System Information
OS: Mint 22.1 Cinnamon
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile
Driver version: Nvidia 550.120
Kernel version: 6.8.0-55-generic
Proton versions: 9, GE-9-25(custom), Hotfix, Experimental, scout
I confirm
[Y] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
[Y] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms
The game indicates that it starts and then closes after a little while without opening a new window. So not even a black-screen for me.
@a-m-prd your linux kernel version seems rather old, I'd recommend installing a newer version first. If the game still doesn't launch after that you should grab and upload some logs, by going to the game's properties you can find the launch parameters, add the following PROTON_LOG=1 %command%, after doing this attempt to play the game and it'll generate a log file in your home folder called steam-1051200.log, upload it here
@simifor are you sure I should upgrade my kernel? It seems to be the most recent stable version and I read getting the newest will most likely introduce new issues, also I can`t seem to upgrade to 6.9 nor 6.10.
Anyways here are the proton logs and thank you very much for the fast help!
Proton9.0-4-steam-1051200.log

Linux has some long term support releases (LTS) the latest one is the 6.12.x branch, I wouldn't expect that to be any less stable than what you have right now but mint lags a bit behind by design so they might not offer that one yet, if your other games work fine you might not need to go out of your way to update.
Having said that, you seem to have a different issue, that image you shared shows the client is looking for a .sh file which is a typical linux script extension, even though it should be launching the windows version it's attempting to launch the linux version (and the depot for the linux version doesn't actually contain any files, so no one can play that), go to the game properties and uncheck "force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool", and then check it again and see if the error goes away.
@simifor Every other game runs fine.
The message in the image I shared only appears when selecting Linux Runtime (scout).
I unchecked the box and checked it again. It switched from Proton9 to Scout, again raising the same error.
I tried again quitting steam in the process and verifying the integrity of the files afterwards.

System Information
I confirm:
PROTON_LOG (the file size of the log was too big to be used in a gist, so instead it can be found at this repository) = https://github.com/codyback1996/logs/blob/master/proton_1051200_log
Symptoms
The game displays only a black screen on start. Nothing else happens and the game is fully unplayable at this time.
Reproduction
Start the game.
