Symptoms

this message and the whole screen are unclickable. only alt-f4 will exit.

Have you tried the latest Nvidia drivers? I'm on 396.54

Just got done updating to 396.54 and trying it out : no change, still the same error message. all the other games still run.

So apparently this problem has also existed in windows. The fix (on Windows) seems to be to run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP. You'll have to do it in your winecfg for this game.

Instructions on editing winecfg with proton are here under the Can I edit Proton to try and make a game work? heading. Hopefully that will work here as well.

I just tested it again, i still get the same error and black screen.

and this is with nvidia driver 415

I run into a small issue where the mouse won't work on the save box. Is this a mouse grab error? If so, a workaround probably can be applied.
