Symptoms

No window appears when running the game, the process appears under system monitor, Running "wineconsole warsim" in the game folder allows it to run, so Steam Proton needs compatibility support for commandline programs.

Had to cut the output as it generated 500MB of "Invalid input; please re-enter"
This game in particular, runs in console, without any graphics or mouse support. Its a text based game. Getting a launch parameter that allows the console to be there would be probably the best solution of the problem.
