7 Days to Die (251570)

NOTE: 7 Days To Die has a Linux port, but it's buggy and doesn't perform well. In addition, the developer has shown little interest in maintaining it. Running the game via Proton has always worked fantastic in the past, with frame rates exceeding Windows in many instances. I don't know if it was a new proton version or my switch from Ubuntu to ArchLinux, but something has caused a few issues:
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1080ti
Driver: 435.21
Kernel: 5.3.1
Proton Version: 4.11-6 (I will try other versions later as I have time and update this post, will also try running steam itself under wine and installing it that way.)

The game runs well, the problem is in Easy Anti-cheat, witch doesn't allow me to connect to EAC servers.
Enable proton. Run with EAC enabled, try to connect to any EAC server.
Since I think Alpha 17 (could be earlier) this game has had memory leaking issues even on the native version, I hope we can somehow fix it in proton.
Games EAC is kicking me out ever since the Alpha 21 came out
Only works in proton Experimental and fails to launch in Proton 8.0-1

The problem is worse when EAC is enabled. The logs I'm providing is with EAC disabled.
The only way I know to replicate the problem is to obtain an oryx4 from System 76 (Nvidia). Download the latest version of steam after ensuring the OS is completely up to date. Then install 7 Days to Die and run it with Proton.
I could never get the native version of this to work well for me, a mix of performance and input issues. Usually the Windows version via proton works fine, but coming back to the game after a ~2 year break, I get a major performance/input issue after ~45-60 minutes of play, regardless of setting I use (native input on/off, graphics jobs on/off, gl, vulkan, directx), I'm playing with someone who's on Windows and they can't replicate the problem with very similar hardware.
It's like the game starts stuttering like crazy any time I move my mouse, generally if I run in a straight line it seems fine but as soon as I try to look around it's like a slideshow, and I have to restart the game to fix it.
Could be an issue with the game, it's pretty janky in general and has always been plagued with weird issues, but hopefully this is something I can solve on my end because it's really annoying!
Cheers.
Edit; See below comment, issue not specific to this game, launch args 'LD_PRELOAD="" %command%" resolve the issue entirely for me.
Hello @solenum, you've described the issue being tracked at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/11446.

This issue has been there for a few years now and used to work, this happens to multiple versions of proton I have tested, it seems to think that a file in proton is unverified and therefore disables EAC as if it can't be used when this is a false flag in the game. I would love to be able to play the game via proton as DXVK performs better then GLcore in the game also we are missing features like FSR for example which is only available on the native version if you use Vulkan which is unusable and not ready for use yet on Windows/Linux.
Launch game via proton, and you will get this error
Play game via proton
Woops sorry for the duplicate post, I just realised I made a post about it here in 2023

henever my friend tries to join my game the game will HARD freeze on my end he is using proton experimental and i was using proton 11 beta. ive tried TONS of different solutions such as backing up and deleting ALL save data and trying a fresh game install on both native linux version of the game and the windows version. the issue does not happen on the native linux version or versions of proton 10.4 or lower. game works fine on wine 10.4
switched back and forth between proton 11, 10.4 and native linux version of the game.
fresh start on my end,new world, character and game install.

System Information
I confirm:
steam-251570.log
Symptoms
Joystick (with steam input turned on and off) doesn't work when not directly up/down or left/right. Inbetweens just don't respond.
Tested with both PS4 and XBOne controller
Video:

(Bonus bug: DS4 shows as XB1 in game, but that may be due to how the kernel has the "name" of the controller, and it can't detect it in both native and proton)
Reproduction
Don't use native, run proton version.
Launch game with controller plugged
Spin the left stick.
