Symptoms

Whenever the game is launched with PROTON_USE_D9VK the game will not render anything, apparently the game still works because pressing the arrow keys will trigger the menu sounds.

According to the PC Gaming Wiki, this game does render with Direct X 9.

Not using this launch parameter gets rid of the black screen, but the point is to get a performance boost using D9VK.

Reproduction

  • (Optional) Delete your compatdata/11390 folder if you ran the game before.
  • Add PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% to the game's launch options
  • Start the game

Running this game on deck with Proton Experimental, the game seems to get stuck on a single frame of the RTL company logo rapidly flashing unless you use proton 4.11-13. I can still hear music though while it is running.

I think it's also going on with Crash Time 3 as well, but I only have Crash time 2 atm.

@waspennator Can you verify that this is now working on newest Experimental or Bleeding Edge?

Retested on the latest build of regular experimental and it seems to no longer be getting stuck on the RTL company logo now, actually getting to the title screen. Had to adjust my control layout and manually pull up the virtual keyboard to make a new profile, but otherwise I was able to get ingame and start playing.

I don't have the 3rd game to check, but I think it might be fixed there too. Might have to check it.
