Symptoms
Multiple games have broken DS4 support in latest proton version. Games that worked with 4.2 don't seem to switch to using the controller and keep the "desktop" mode (where the touchpad acts like a touchpad). Games affected seem to be games that only have Xbox controller support so it might have to do with the recent change to passing gamepads through to the game directly.
Reproduction
plug in a DS4 controller
set the Steam Input setting of a selected game to 'forced on'
Edit: After more digging I found out the bug is actually with Systemd so I'm just going to close this.
