Runs without any issues for me with Proton 3.7

Tested on:
Ubuntu 18.04
Core i7-4790K, 16 GB Ram
Geforce GTX 1060 (driver version 396.51)

I do not think it is ready yet, when i try to enter the cemetery it always crashes to a point where it hogs all system recources.

EDIT: that is about 2h into the game, everything else so far is perfect

Hello @hrkrx, please copy your system information from steam (Steam -> Help -> System Information) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report. If it is crashing, why would it be using resources? If possible, please make a save just before the problem area, then add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options, reproduce the issue in a short run of the game, and drag and drop the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log into the comment box.

A little more detail:

I can walk to the gate where the game asks me to confirm to change the level.
When i accept a cutscene begins to play and freezes after about 2 seconds.
It freezes always at exactly the same frame.
After that the process demands 100% of one cpu core and the whole system begins to lag to a point where it's almost unusable.
I then use another machine to SIGKILL via ssh the process.
Nothing else i tried can stop the process.
If i play in fullscreen its even worse.

Since i can ssh into the system i think there maybe some GPU Issues.

EDIT: It happens on all available versions of proton

I had exactly the same issue as @hrkrx . This is how I fixed it. Add -DX9 to the launch options in Steam. There seems to be an issue with the DX11 compatabilty layer.

The game freeze in cutscene "entering cementery" is present on PROTON 4.2-1 too...
Maybe is a bug in DXVK...

Mminisori 2019-04-02 github

It's not the cutscene itself, it also happens when you load a game from there using dx11.
Aside of that bug i was able to complete the entire game, sadly i have no reports from that part.

This is weird!!!
The game still crash when "entering cemetery" via PROTON 4.11-7 too, but only when I use my GTX 970
steam-233290-GTX970.log

...When I use my RTX 2060 SUPER, the game doesn't crash anymore when "entering cemetery" via PROTON 4.11-7 (even via PROTON 4.2-6, the game doesn't crash anymore)

Currently DX11 version runs fine for me with Proton 6.3 and 7.0, Mesa 21.3.5.
Haven't had freezes like mentioned above.
Re-testing might be useful?

Edit: adding that further playing without issues on Proton 7.0, no crashes or freezes that were mentioned before.
