Game starts and the sand-coloured spash screen is visible for a split second. However, the game client closes soon after. I've attempted to get this to work with Proton experimental and Glorious Eggroll's 6.16A fork also. No cigar.

Error line in both gists are the same:

and
(process:130984): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 13:25:18.468: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
This might have to do with Windows Feature Media Pack @alakoring utilises in his games, although I cannot be sure.
Hello @zelmor, there's a good chance that the glib assert you highlighted is unrelated. Please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.)

@kisak-valve as you requested. Probably relevant error on line 1200:

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help testing this. I'm hoping we can get the game running by the Deck release.
I know nothing of Windows, but https://github.com/microsoft/WinObjC/issues/2930 has a little more specific info on what’s needed.
I know nothing of Windows either, maybe @DHowett-MSFT can help us in some way.
I just tried this game on Linux (Unbuntu 20-04-5) again after many failed attempts, and it now works when using Proton Experimental.
Can confirm, game starts with sound and all under Debian Bookworm as well as the stable branch of Steam Deck. Compatibility set to Proton Experimental.

Additional Comment
After talking with the Developers Support team, we found, the problem is that wine and/or proton are missing api-ms-win-core-libraryloader-l2-1-0.dll with seems to be part of only windows 10
