Hello @shoober420, this whitelist request is not suitable because it's being made for a third party modification of the game. If you retest with a vanilla install of the game and it has no issues, we can go from there.
Steam bundles NewDark 2.48 with System Shock 2, so I didn't modify anything. I was just making light that its being used.
Okay, while it's debatable how "native" the linux variant is, this game does have linux depots, which is why the above label was used.
Yes, the Linux "port" has a Wine thing in it. Its not true native by any means. I would for sure recommend Proton over the shady Wine build bundled in the Linux "port".
I dunno if it's shady -- I packaged it :) But yes, modern Proton is a way better experience than what we were shipping back then.
@aeikum
Oh dang lolol, no disrespect. You got to do what you got to do when no source code is available.
Marking this report with "thumbs up" since the Linux build no longer works on my system.
I wish there would be a process in future to replace a Linux build with a "Steam Play" build without removing Linux support icon from the store page.

Runs great with the bundled NewDark patch (https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146448). Using 60Hz and VSync and/or framerate limiter to 60fps is necessary for proper movement speeds and game timing. Enabled
