Symptoms

The game will not work with the newest version of Proton, namely 4.11-10, but will work with version 4.2-9. Intro movie not working.

@BackOrder We aren't seeing this failure either. Could you try the same things as I asked on the other report #3331 ?

For reference:

-switching back to 4.11-9 to see this can be narrowed down to the upgrade from -9 to -10? You can switch by going into the properties for Proton 4.11-10, going to the beta tab, and selecting proton-4.11-9.

-Also, could you try without d9vk as well as with d9vk?

Hello. I wanted to revive this issue because even though the game works fine (mostly), there are two issues that I would love to get fixed.

Following issues apply to all Proton versions (by Valve and Glorious Eggroll [ProtonGE]) from my personal experience.

  • Minimizing not working: The game will minimize if you want it to (alt+tab), but then you gotta kill the game in order to play it again. It simply shows a black screen forever, hence you have to restart.
  • Soundtrack not working: All sounds work fine, but the music is dead forever, never starts.

There's also the issue of cutscenes not playing (black screen, sound works, cutscene finishes normally, you can play the game), but this issue is not that annoying because the audio does work, and that is basically the only thing that matters.

The only reason I REALLY want those issues (or at least the minimize one) to be fixed is because Cultures is my number one favorite game and I absolutely love playing it, though the minimization issue is annoying when you're having a conversation with someone on Discord/Facebook/whatever and you have to either stop playing or exit the game each time you wanna reply. It's a chill game after all, you basically just build stuff and chill most of the time.

Hope you manage to fix it one day (and hopefully it'll be very soon). Thanks for doing such a great job with gaming on Linux!
