Onimusha: Warlords (761600)
Issue transferred from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/7053.

Steam Deck 256GB
Stable
Game crashes on opening new game or loading a save
Video cutscenes stuck on black screen.
However, game works flawlessly (without prerendered videos) on Proton 5.13-6 MAKING THIS A REGRESSION
If the 5.13-6 behaviour can be put into current proton, the game would immediately be ready for playable state. A fix for the prerendered cutscenes (even though there's very few of them) would make it an instant verified.
On 5.13-6 Prerendered videos get autoskipped.
Open game, attempt to start a a new game.
Hello @ffrasisti, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options, reproduce the regression, and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.) Also, can you check how the game behaves with Proton 6.3 to narrow the time frame of the regression you're seeing?
I can confirm it does not work on 7, il try 6.3 when i have a moment
Does not work on 6.3

crash on 7.0.6
Thanks, looks like there's an access violation (c0000005) somewhere in combase.dll.
Beware that it doesnt always crash, sometimes it just gets stuck on a black screen without ctd
Also, even on proton 5 where the game works fantastic, the prerenderdd videos get autoskipped
Has this been fixed?
This appears to have been fixed. As of current experimental the game ran with no issues, the cutscenes played and had audio. There is no reason for the game to still be marked as unsupported

I can confirm that the prerendered cutscene videos work on Proton Experimental 9.0 with enabled shader cache. However I am getting distorted audio and kind of choppy video. It's watchable, but not as good as intended. The original cutscene files are WMV videos located in the game folder under IMAGE/MOVIE/. Maybe this is an encoding mishap or maybe a video playback issue with the transcoded videos from the shader cache. Without shader cache the video test picture is shown briefly and the cutscene is skipped.
EDIT: I noticed that in the later parts of the game particulary when you enter the demon door and the ending cut scenes were not playing and skipped.
Tested on my Arch Linux PC and Steam Deck.
