Symptoms

  1. Instead of the main menu, the game presents a black screen. Menu music plays but it's otherwise unresponsive, game has to be forcibly quit. Disabling DXVK with PROTON_USE_WINED3D solves the issues.
  2. The game crashes when loading a savegame if option V-Sync is set to Yes in the Options menu.
  3. Disruptive visual glitches appear when achievements are unlocked, disabling the Steam Overlay solves the issues.

Reproduction

  1. Running the game with Proton 5.0-4 and no special environment variable set.
  2. Loading a savegame with V-Sync set to Yes.
  3. Unlocking an achievement with Steam Overlay enabled.
