Hi,

"LEGO® STAR WARS™: The Force Awakens" seems to work okay on a brief test.

The game starts with an attempt to connect to the publisher's server and fails doing so, then offers the player to skip the connection. (On Win10, this step does not fail.)

In the graphics settings, I tried to use DirectX9 for the game, which resulted in making it non-playable and I had to delete the local compatdata/438640/ folder and start over.

All in all, very little seems to be missing. I'm impressed.

System Information

I confirm:

  • [x] that pressing the Play button in the Steam client is sufficient.
  • [ ] that runtime config options
are necessary to run the game.
  • [x] that no workarounds other than the mentioned ones are necessary.

Issues

  • [ ] I haven't experienced any issues.
  • [ ] There are no issues left open for this game.
  • [x] Although I consider the gaming experience equal to Windows there are
    remaining issues:
    1. General: Unable to connect to developers/publishers online servers (optional)

I have some audio issues:

  • voices are too quite, barely hearable
  • environment sounds and music are too loud
  • I disabled the music, but the music keeps playing

I tried to use native xaudio2_7 but it changed nothing (maybe because of the 64 bit prefix: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/54#issuecomment-415024571)

And the logs gets spammed with the following entries:

err:ntdll:RtlLeaveCriticalSection section 0x7f1905eb0550 is not acquired
fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_GetKeyboardLayout couldn't return keyboard layout for thread 0041

System Info

EDIT:
I found a work around for the audio issues: the native xaudio2_7 works if the game runs with DirectX 9, because than the game uses a 32 bit exe. With DirectX 11 the game has a 64 bit exe.

@flibitijibibo
I tried it again with the latest Proton 3.16-5 beta. And all the audio issues I mentioned are gone now.
The game runs great with FAudio!

After Proton 4.11-1 there seems to be the issue when switching to 1920x1080 from the default resolution.

Behavior: Go to game options, set the resolution from default to 1920x1080 (my monitor's native resolution), it stays on default resolution. It switches most of the other resolutions fine, for me it only has problem with 1920x1080 which is the native resolution of my monitor.
Reproducable: Every time
Workaround: Change the display mode to "windowed" and "borderless", change the resolution to 1920x1080, switch back to full-screen mode.

My hardware/setup:
Intel Core i5, Nvidia GTX 970, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 250GB SSD
Distribution: PopOS 19.04 with Gnome desktop environment

I don't remember having the issue with switching resolution with this game in the past on earlier proton versions. Might be related to Proton's latest full-screen patches.

@MaCroX95 One of our QA people and I both tried to reproduce this and weren't able to. We did find that the resolution switch confirmation dialog is very confusing (is green selected or white?!), so it's easy to select "No" to revert back to the old resolution, instead of "Use current display mode". Selecting the wrong option there could explain the symptoms you're seeing. Can you double-check that you're selecting the right option in this menu?
