Did you test it? The game is stable? You can play with a gamepad?

TTk-Glitch 2018-08-24 github

The game doesn't work at all. Whitelisting requests are for games that are working right now already, not for the games you'd like to get working..

JJbone187 2018-08-24 github

So what is the official way to let you know about this game.

TTk-Glitch 2018-08-24 github

There's nothing to do right now except waiting. The game is known not to work and the issue is open here already : https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45377
So just wait for the bug to be fixed, if it ever is.

Mmikeyjoel 2018-09-23 github

After reading the response given here, I went ahead and posted a discussion regarding this issue along with all the sources and explanation possibles to see if Capcom can keep their promise of releasing this game in some way to SteamOS.

The game was bought on PC instead of the console version with the promise that it would be released on SteamOS/Linux and 2 years later we are still waiting for this to happen.

We are not waiting any longer and are demanding Capcom to collaborate and have this bug fixed/work with valve on getting this working as soon as possible.

Ooblitum 2018-11-01 github

@mikeyjoel where did you post the discussion? On Capcom forums?

Sad that it's being blocked by a stupid protection scheme...

Ggustavolinux 2018-12-29 github

Looks like there is something avoid the executable to launch.

Ooblitum 2019-07-26 github

Seriously this sounds like never going to be fixed....

?ghost 2019-12-09 github

this game is still unplayable now, not even launching

TTk-Glitch 2019-12-09 github

It is still being worked on.

?ghost 2019-12-09 github

thx

Ggustavolinux 2019-12-09 github

It's sad because Capcom could help to make it run on Proton. Maybe they will when everybody stop to play the game, then they will complain about low linux sales...

Reopening as a compatibility report because there's no other issue tracking this game.

What is it that prevents this game from working? Is it Denuvo interaction like with Tales of Berseria such that Proton 5.0 might make a difference? I have access to a copy of SFV through Humble Choice, but haven't seen if anyone's tested it on ProtonDB or here in this issue. If it doesn't work yet, I'll just gift my copy.

Llucifertdark 2020-02-11 github

I tested it with 4.11-12 & got nowhere, haven't had a chance to test with 5.0 yet.

TTiZ-HugLife 2020-02-11 github

5.0 is significant because of the changes that allow Denuvo on many more games to work.

TTk-Glitch 2020-02-11 github

The game doesn't use Denuvo though. It's a custom protection and afaik the main blocking factor is that it compares on-disk ntdll.dll to in-memory version, and since ntdll isn't yet built as PE in Wine it will fail. When ntdll will be built as PE, we can expect the game to go further (or even potentially to work completely fine). The work needed to get there is still ongoing.

TTiZ-HugLife 2020-02-11 github

Ah, okay. Then I shouldn't expect Proton 5.0 to make any difference. Thank you. :)

I've been testing with Proton 5.0-7 and it is working well. Just some points that I noticed:

  1. Sometimes the word "Fight" gets stuck on the screen during the whole fight. I played a full Arcade session and it happened more than 3 times. Also on on-line multiplayer. I've tried to disable the Steam overlay, but it seems to have no effect. Here is a picture:

310950_20200429234251_1

  1. If I play on Arcade, eventually the server connection is lost (error: 80003) and it is not possible to reconnect to it again. Even trying on the Main Menu after leaving the Arcade mode.

  2. Eventually when a simple Versus fight ends (Player vs CPU) the action buttons stop to work (A, X, B, Y), but the analog sticks don't. I have to turn the controller off and later on to get it working again. This issue has never happened with any other game I play through Proton. (Xbox One Wireless controller)

The last I believe has nothing to do with Proton but the game itself: the frame rate doesn't reach 60 fps, and it drops a lot when the vsync is on. To have a constant and fluid 60 FPS, I had to edit the file ../Steam/steamapps/compatdata/310950/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/StreetFighterV/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini and add the following lines:

[/Script/Engine.Engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false

The game used to work perfectly, but now it logs a bunch of "raise_exception" making the game close and open constantly.

Tried to launch directly with proton, at least a street fighter image appeared(that one with ryu and chunli which appear before game launch), but the following error shows up.

I'm sure it's not a Proton issue, because the game is running just like native in most cases. So, check if you have all necessary packages installed in your system and in your hardware.

DS4 doesn't seem to work for me, even with the mentioned workarounds. It somehow worked on one launch, but subsequent ones were borked as usual. Controller works fine on Big Picture and Steam overlay

Randomly works now without changing anything. Wonky game.

This game used to not launch. Just installed it and it has run flawlessly, out of the box. Tried on Arch Linux 7700K/1080TI with DS4 controller.

Just tried the game today on Proton Experimental. Game seems to slowdown if you try to do matchmaking in the background while in training mode (will most likely do the same if a user was watching replays or something while searching for matches).
Current using Proton Experimental, not sure if this issue has occurred before in previous versions.

System:

I solved my Stuttering problem with Street fighter V on proton by disabling mangoapp in gamescope-session or droping the framerate to 59, or i can even drop to it 59 and put it back on 60 and it wont try go above 60fps and keep a steady framerate, mangoapp is weirdly affecting some games frametime, idk how but you guys can look into it please.

Tried the game multiple times recently but it doesn't seem to be working. The window is frozen but it doesn't crash even if you keep it open for some time.

Here is the logfile steam-310950.log although I couldn't find any relevant line.

I am running the game from Bazzite, and i cant find a way to make online multiplayer work, i believe when the game finds a online match it just crashes. I've tried several protons.

?ghost 2026-03-03 github

The game slows down if you have a network interface without an active connection.
Disabling the network interface solves the issue.

DDSC6463 2026-07-27 github

I'm experiencing an online matchmaking crash with Street Fighter V on Bazzite.

The game works correctly in offline game modes.

THE ISSUE OCCURS CONSISTENTLY WHEN SEARCHING FOR RANKED OR CASUAL ONLINE MATCHES.

MOST OF THE TIME, THE GAME CRASHES WHILE CONNECTING TO THE MATCH BEFORE THE FIGHT BEGINS. OCCASIONALLY, IT REACHES THE "ANOTHER FIGHT" LOADING SCREEN BEFORE CLOSING.

and also, it worked before a recent update of the game here, when it was working, I even got to Silver rank

Battle Lounge works correctly.

The game exits instantly without displaying any error message or crash dialog.

I tested Proton Experimental, Proton Hotfix and GE-Proton11-1, but the issue persists.

The Proton log ends with:

Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000000000000008.

DDSC6463 2026-07-27 github

Estou rodando o jogo pelo Bazzite e não consigo encontrar uma forma de fazer o multiplayer online funcionar, acredito que quando o jogo encontra uma partida online, ele simplesmente trava. Já tentei vários prótons.

Damn, I'm having the same problem as you, do you already know a solution or something like that, SFV is my favorite game :(

@DSC6463 when running into issue you always want to share basic information about your setup (software and hardware) and upload the full proton log, they tend to zip well if github isn't happy about the size. Switch to proton experimental, delete the game's prefix, play until you get the game crashing and upload the log.

At least on my end, the game is working fine and I can play online matches normally.

My system is:

  • Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • Intel Core i5-8250U
  • 32 GB RAM

Although my GPU is below the game's minimum requirements, the game itself runs at a stable 60 FPS in offline modes, so this doesn't appear to be a performance-related issue.

As mentioned before, the only line in the Proton log that seems related to the crash is:

Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000000000000008

I'll also test again with Proton Experimental using a fresh prefix and upload the complete Proton log.

@DSC6463 unfortunately, there's nothing to go by with that log, however, things like ERROR: ld.so: object '/run/host/usr/lib/extest/libextest.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored. seem to come from modifications bazzite does to the steam client. I haven't used that myself, but it might be worth launching steam directly from your terminal as just steam and grab new logs, it might bypass their changes.

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate it, and I hope we can figure this out.

I tested again by launching Steam directly from the terminal using steam, as suggested.

The previous /run/host/usr/lib/extest/libextest.so LD_PRELOAD messages are now gone.

The game still crashes while connecting to Ranked/Casual online matches.

I've attached a new Proton log generated from this test.
