I used to have this issue within Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, but not sure how it was resolved the last time.
Attached is my error.log showing the errors but am more then willing to provide more info if requested: error.log
Aditionally, I've also followed the wiki here to create a symlink which originally solved my issues last time
Bleh, Issue Resolved. Turns out Proton does NOT like being on the external drive, so it turns out I had also moved Proton to the Steam install folder and forgot about that
