From what i can tell from the log file, there's a problem with an unsupported device(usb device 7) and unsupported encoding.
I'm new to Proton (and wine of course) so don't take it as a definitive answer.
Currently with both Proton 6.3-7 (stable) and Proton Experimental (experimental-bleeding-edge-6.3-2183-20211103-p47b0be-w1c626d9-da6cc5b-vdb89d4) the game still has these issues. Actually the first time I tried (with experimental) it has briefly shown in the headset a menu running at ~0.5 fps, then proceeded to crash SteamVR (headset turns off) and show its crash screen. In another random attempt, the headset screen turned off but there was a window in the monitor where the game still had head tracking working, but the image wasn't shown.
Sending the logs for an attempt with Proton 6.3-7, game starts, show a couple splash screens, turns all black, then after approximately 30 seconds crashes (turns off) the headset and SteamVR with it.

Symptoms and Reproduction
Seems to work in pancake mode (not interested in it tho) but not VR. When I try to run it in VR either by choosing the second option for VR when pressing play or by running it from within SteamVR Home, it shows the first intro screen then crashes -- showing this error on the monitor mirrored screen:
Then I have to close this dialog by pressing ok and then close the unresponsive game window.
