Symptoms

The game itself runs fine, but audio is completely broken, playing the beginning of most sounds, repeatedly, forever. It's the most noticable on the main menu as you scroll down the menu.

Reproduction

Launch the game, then scroll through the main menu. Recommended without headphones.

Some other odd things:

  • The game reinstalls .NET Framework on every launch. This obviously slows down launching the game.
  • Audio issues described above are fixed with PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1.
  • The config tool's 'save and run' button doesn't save any configuration and doesn't launch the game (presumably it crashes). The manual workaround is to browse the local files and edit Config/UserConfig.cfg.
  • Controller isn't detected out of the box (presumably because the config tool doesn't actually save any configs)

I've had this game working a few days ago.

First point, The game actually fails to install it's own .NET Framework here, and that's why it tries to reinstall it every launch, since Steam does not detect it. I had to rename the .NET Framework setup folder (external/DotNet3_5) to stop Steam from doing that. Also did the same with the DirectX setup folder since is not really needed.

Second point, yeah, fixed with PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1

Third ponit not true on my part. Even editing Config/UserConfig.cfg did not change game settings. Instead, I've installed .NET Framework 2.0 (protontricks 219950 dotnet20) to fix the configuration tool. From there, I was able to change things and save the configuration.

Last point, I haven't tested game pads yet, but game pad support is normally disabled and needs to be enabled from the configuration tool (There's a checkbox on the controls section that needs to be checked).

I hope that helps.
