Hello @mimattr, it also looks like this game uses Easy Anti-Cheat, but that might be unrelated to the login issue you're seeing.
There are several submissions, having problem with logging in one newer versions of the game on ProtonDB. https://www.protondb.com/app/471710
I noticed, that most of the non-working results, were in proton 5+, while the older, working reports were in proton 4, but there is one non-working report in proton 4.11, meaning that most probably the game update broke the functionality on Linux, not proton.
I tried running it with proton 7.0 experimental and it just hangs at the Easy Anti Cheat loading window, the bar fully loads but then it doesn't do anything.
I got this error that I think its relevant but I can't solve it.

I already installed winbind, and also I checked and ntlm_auth its on the path.
Hi, in the first update of the year for rec room, support for EAC in proton was added, so this game is now playable
Request: change Steam Deck Compatibility rating for Rec Room

Latest version of Proton-GE:
The Steam Deck compatibility rating for Rec Room is outdated: the game's anti-cheat works perfectly fine on Linux if users download Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime.

After doing some research, it seems the Rec Room devs are replacing Easy Anti Cheat with their own proprietary anti-cheat. Seems Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime is no longer needed. Details linked below from their blog:
The game was working until the latest update, in October 8, which broke compatibility. According to protondb, it is due to Referee.dll throwing an exception while being loaded

I managed to capture the logs, which can be found here
BEWARE: Try at your own risk
There have been changes in proton experimental bleeding edge ( https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Proton-Versions#proton-bleeding-edge ) that allow the game to start and lets you get into rooms and play, but there's no guarantee you will not get banned. So, again, try at your own risk
