Symptoms

The game launches but shortly after (about 10 to 20 seconds?) completely freezes. The game also stops playing sound.

Reproduction

  1. Launch the game
  2. The game will freeze after about 10 to 20 seconds.
    Mashing Escape and Enter to skip the opening video and get to the title screen will allow you to navigate the menu but the game will still freeze.

Ginga Force works with Proton 7.0-1. The entire opening cinematic runs without issue, and I was able to successfully complete five (5) levels. No crashes. Game runs well like on Windows. OS is up-to-date Arch Linux 64-bit (kernel 5.16.15/mesa 21.3.7).
