Symptoms

The audio is crackling, as reported by multiple other Proton users (but not all Proton users) of this game. Makes it unplayable IMO

Reproduction

Launch the game with any Proton-version.

In newer proton versions gamepad does not seem to be working. Switching to proton 3.7 and then back to 6.3 fixes the issue.
The audio problem happened on all the proton versions that ran.

Log: steam-1150690.log

Symptoms

When using Proton 8 or Experimental the game does not render a lot of the graphics and fonts correctly, a lot of dark scenes are barely visible on screen even with max brightness because of that and the text is hard to read.
To someone who has never played the game before it would be hard to tell that this is not the intended experience assuming they use the latest stable release of Proton.

Reproduction

How to easily reproduce it is to check the 'load save' screen. Upon selecting a save from the main menu there is supposed to be an animated background which is visible on Proton 7 but turn completely black on a newer Proton version. Otherwise it's easy to see by looking at item descriptions, the font is hard to read as some letters are not even shown. A lot of other graphics are darker and less detailed. To see the very dark scene that is barely visible on screen you have to reach the point in the prologue where you wake up after Basil disappeared.

Proton log: steam-1150690.log

Symptoms:

Kde plasma's panel flashes periodically while game is in fullscreen mode. It flashes with buttons selected and when player takes a step. There also seems to be a ghost image of previous frame with every such step. After a while these flashes disappear. This does not happen if game is in windowed mode.

Reproduction

Play the first 5 minutes of the game.

Can't comment on much of the above, but can add that the game has baffling poor performance on Steam Deck. Have noticed this with a number of RPG Maker titles - where they either refuse to get to 60FPS or will consistently drop below this.
