Symptoms

Game would not work with patched fsync2/winesync kernel. Proton 5.0 works fine. 6.3 and 5.13 launch but the game would just black screen (Steam shows it as running). It would not crash nor stop responding.

Reproduction

  1. Launch Steam
  2. Select either Proton 5.13 or 6.3 as your compat tool
  3. Launch the game
  4. Black screen

Update: On this laptop, all versions of proton above 5.0 do not work. On Proton 5.0, all games work. On 5.13 and above, they do not. On my main PC they do work. What could be the issue?

Hello @CygnusTerminal, please let Steam's system information finish collecting the extended diagnostics information and update your gist. I suspect you've encountered https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-runtime/issues/312.
