quite sussy
Unlike most game reports I've seen, NieR: Automata (524220) has numerous issues logged instead of a single thread. Perhaps because there have been a variety of historical issues, but for this one (the most recent report) it is at least related to a few other reports discussing crashes (eg #4231, #1643).
For what it's worth, I just started playing yesterday (August 2025) with vanilla Proton 9.0-4, no apparent issues (yet), but I've only played a few hours so far.
Have now completed the game on vanilla Proton 9.0-4. I only remember two serious issues:
Without being able to replicate that second scenario, deterministically or otherwise, I feel like the game runs very well in Proton 9.

Falling through the ground at the entering of the desert zone, simple walking within the mall on the other side of the bridge of the city ruins. the second location gives me the idea that the crashes could happen at random in any location and warring that might be game breaking
