Same here. EA will still sell you the game though.

There is a Proton regression, this game is fully playable on Proton 9.0-4, but won't ever launch on Proton Experimental or GE-Proton10.x (bfh.exe process actually dies)
Hello @awsms, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options, reproduce the regression, and attach the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log to this issue report as a file. (Proton logs compress well if needed.) Also, please copy the contents of Steam Runtime Diagnostics from Steam (Steam -> Help -> Steam Runtime Diagnostics) and put it in a gist, then include a link to the gist in this issue report.
It would also be nice to note how the game behaves with Proton 10.0-4 to potentially shrink the time frame of the regression.

Hi kisak, so I tried proton 10.0-4 & 9.0-4, both work fine and can launch a single player game. However Experimental crashes bfh.exe a few seconds after clicking "Play Campaign" in battlelog.

bfh-proton9.0-4.zip
bfh-proton10.0-4.zip
bfh-proton_exp.zip (logfile is over 90MB!)
note: while the campaign works in 9.0/10.0, joining an online game will boot the game, display a loading screen, crash the game and redirect to the EA launcher. It used to work fine last time I played the game (around ~5months ago?). mp logs:
bfh-proton10.0-4_MP.zip
re: funnily enough, using battlelog doesn't do anything for BF3/BF4. however, for BFH, it can boot the campaign, or (attempt) to join a server (which results in a crash). nothing at all happens for the other 2 mentioned games.
Hi, any news?
:(
A new EA launcher update came out 30min ago. Still unplayable in MP, the bfh.exe process dies a couple of seconds after the game is launched from Battlelog (the website). Then Battlelog keeps telling Could not launch game. Please make sure it's installed correctly. when trying to join a serv.
I guess this game is just way too niche to have any interest from Valve devs?
Could we tie this issue to #3994 & #3972 as well, since the 3 games share the same Battlelog+web browser mechanisms underhood basically?
BF4 is the only one entirely playable without the need of the Battlelog integration, as it has a native built-in server browser, while the other two BF games don't.
I'm having the same issue. I used GE-Proton 15 before today, when I couldn't launch EA launcher (it would stop with the option to start again). I changed to Proton Experimental, and EA launcher was installing, reading this thread and seeing the updates on SteamDB, I'm guessing it was updating.
Now I have Battlelog open but I can't launch the game at all.
Multiplayer never launches, gun bench too and the campaign. It keeps going ("joining server", "initializing", etc...).
I tried GE-Proton 32 too.
I didn't played after the update on 10 March.
The campaign isn't playable anymore on Proton 9/10 because of changes in the EA Launcher, so.. the game is entirely unplayable rn.
However, BF3 Battlelog integration now works. That's weird because it's still broken for BF4 (joining any server from the Battlelog will put your account in a buggy state where you can't join any other server for ~2 hours).
Hey, it has been a while.
In the latest comment in Issue #3994, there is a guy saying to use Proton 11 beta. Reading the release notes and I see it has to be Proton 11.0-beta1 as it claims it has been fixed.
I haven't tried it yet and can't for the moment.
Looking forward.
@awsms Hey, I played today in Linux.
Fresh steam install, using Proton beta.
Multiplayer works. It seems fixed.
yay! can confirm MP works (for now)!

Compatibility Report
System Information
I confirm:
steam-1238880.log
Symptoms
I tried to launch the game but unfortunately it is, at least to my knowledge, not possible to launch it without the battle log web service. I got around the battlelog OS detection simply by changing my browsers user agent. If I try to join Online servers or a single player campaign a steam window pops up with the message "preparing to launch battlefield hardline" but after a few seconds it disappears and the game doesn't come up.
Reproduction
Launch the game and select a singe player campaign or an online server.
