This happens on windows as well.
This might be a recent problem because when I was playing on Windows (800+ hours) it never happened. I could play for 6 hours straight without crash. Actually I don't even believe it is a recent problem, I think it is not a problem at all in the native version of the game.

New Proton didn't help after all these years, the same behavior with Experimental, game crashes after three online games randomly.
Will try to dig deeper sometime and find relevant logs about what happens, maybe it is fixable in Proton.
32bits version of the game seems to crash even earlier at first game sometime, with out of video memory error box.
64bits version seems to last longer. I had multiple matches in a row without crashing. But it crashes at some point if you play long enough.

Symptoms
Game will crash every time after a few consecutive online games. This is reproducible every time
Besides that the game runs OK (but not as good as on Windows)
Reproduction
Play online game by clicking Find Match button in main menu, after the second or third game in a row, the game will crash to desktop during a loading or after joining a game. Sometimes you can have more luck and play more games, sometimes you're crashing quickly. It is random but the unstability is always there.
