I have since deleted Distraint and reinstalled it on an extfs4 partition, the result is the same

The combination of Proton and NTFS is known to be a finicky combination, and https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-runtime/issues/434 may have interfered with your second test attempt. If you want to cleanly retest without that partition being involved, I expect you'd need to check which Steam library folder that Steam Linux Runtime - Soldier and Proton 6.3 are located in, in addition to having the game installed onto a native linux filesystem.
@kisak-valve Thank you, I had reinstalled Steam Linux Runtime - Soldier into native filesystem, but not the Proton versions, I have moved them and all is working correctly! Thank you :)

I can run games using WINE and standard Linux games work perfectly from Steam itself, but nothing at all works using Steam Play
