Symptoms

Immediately stops after starting, e.g nothing is shown on screen.

Looking at the log, an exception is raised early on

and it seems unable to find the steam_api.dll file

Reproduction

  1. Install
  2. Press Launch
  3. Twiddle fingers while it does its thing
  4. Observe Launch button turning green

Eh, I deserve to get bonked... I had my suspicion when it acted the same on Windows 10, then it hit me that Creation Kit is installed in the same folder as Skyrim. Lo and behold, once Skyrim was installed, it loaded without issues. Oh well, time to test the functionality.

I'll close the issue for now and reopen if I find anything useful.
