Symptoms

In main menu, the background is an SMPTE color bar instead of the correct one. This background is shown on GE versions.

Launch game and look at screen with a vanilla proton version.

I've also been experiencing occasional random crashes. Not certain if they've happened on experimental, but on 6.3 I had a random crash midgame.

pid 390250 != 390249, skipping destruction (fork without exec?)
